It's a good game but not great.
Try "Chessmaster 10th ed." if you want a super-killer-awesome chess game that also has a fantasy "battle-chess" among it's many many board preferences.

The stunning game of tournament level chess played with living, battling characters. No matter how good you are at chess, you'll have to be a whole lot better when the black knight's turning your pawns to green jelly, and the queen's threatening to deliver a majestic head-butt to your king.
