(More customer reviews)It's been awhile since we saw an Olympics game for the PC. Thelast one I remember was Bruce Jenner's Decathlon from Interactive Magic. Now it's the year 2000 and we now have this new Olympics game for the PC- Sydney 2000. Lets go then to our review:
Graphics: Spectacular. Almost real, life-life character animation. Works well with any video card since the graphics engine they used for this game is generic. However, that doesnt mean the graphics are lousy. Computers with average graphics power should not have any problems.
AI: Nothing much on the AI here since the game doesnt really need a lot strategy to beat the AI which then leads me to my next criteria for review which is Gameplay.
Gameplay: I thought that this game was going to be like Bruce Jenners Decathlon where there was a bit of strategy involved to beat the game. However, with Sydney 2000 it all boils down to one thing: how fast can you mash your buttons. To make things even worse, you need to mash two buttons alternately. If your thumbs are in steroids then you can beat this game just by tapping and mashing the buttons to death. This simply spoiled everything since it is a battle of thumbs rather than a battle of minds and strategy. Forget about playing this game multiplayer because the guy who's got his thumbs on steroids wins the match. Forget about training your athletes cuz a puny athlete can easily beat it if the player has his rhythm in button mashing. The game only represents 32 countries. Also, the mens and womens events are all mixed up. Platform diving and swimming are represented by women, the rest are men. They should've put an option where one can play mens or womens events.
My two-cents: Got the power to mash a button? Grab this game. But if you're looking for something more mind powered, avoid this game. END
