(More customer reviews)Darn, I wanted to post a 'video review' here to show you what you can do in iClone - the vid being the book trailer I created using the product, but the limit is 100mb and my vid file is three times that large. Amazon won't allow a link here, but my youtube channel is 'melissaconwaywrites' in case you'd like to see an example of what a non-animator can do.
iClone makes animating simple. Anyone who is familiar with how a 3D animation is made from scratch will be amazed at how much of the work has already been done for you. The software comes with premade avatars that are adjustable so that you can change their faces and body shape to create your own character. Using paint software like Adobe Elements, you can further refine their faces and clothing.
As I learned how to use the product, I found I wanted to do more and more. If, for instance, you want to have a lamp in the scene you've created, you won't find one included in the props category. However, iClone is bundled here with 3DXchange, which allows you to find the model you need on Google 3D Warehouse (a cool place where users make their own models and upload them for anyone to use) and convert it for use in iClone.
I also wanted my character's lips to move more realistically than iClone could do. I ended up purchasing additional Reallusion software called CrazyTalk, which allows you to animate photos. It has a great lip-syncing feature that can be imported into iClone.
I started out with a mild interest in animation, and now I'm a convert! This product is fun and useful. It does crash on occasion for no reason, but what software doesn't? Just save regularly.
